How Internet of Things (IoT) In The Solar Dryer Can Improve Profitability And Productivity

You’ve read it in our earlier blog post “Introducing The New Smart Greenhouse Solar Dryer“. In this post, we will be sharing with you what makes a smart greenhouse solar dryer “smart”. And the answer is using the Internet of Things (IoT).

What is the Internet of Things?

The Internet of Things (IoT) in a smart greenhouse solar dryer allows users to monitor and control the temperature and humidity of its internal environment for optimal drying conditions. Think of it in this scenario: you are in town doing some business deals when it suddenly starts to rain. You have forgotten to switch on the fan in the solar dryer. And now you need to quickly go back before all your drying products become too moist. But with an IoT system, you can quickly use your phone to switch on the fan and not worry about spoilt products.

How does the IoT work?

The IoT system operates by first reading the temperature and humidity level inside the solar dryer. This collected data is then processed by the climate control computer. When the drying conditions get out of range, the climate control computer will trigger any necessary action needed to balance out the solar dryer again. For example, when the temperature is too low for drying, the computer will automatically trigger the heater to be turned on.

Besides that, you can also adjust the threshold value of the temperature and humidity inside the solar dryer. All you need to do is to access the IoT dashboard from your desktop or mobile device that is connected to the internet and change accordingly.

What devices can be connected to an IoT system?

Any devices will do as long as they can be connected to the internet. This means that, besides controlling the standard features (i.e. fan, heater, and temperature and humidity sensor) found in a solar dryer, other devices such as headlight, CCTV, and alarm system can be included. The system can be specially made according to your needs.

Data-driven greenhouse solar dryer

The temperature and humidity data used to monitor the solar dryer are automatically stored in a safe and secure cloud system in compliance with European Union GDPR guidelines. This data can be used to identify interesting patterns about your drying products. Ultimately such information is essential in transforming your data into insightful business analytics. In Greenhouse Solar Dryer, we provide free lifetime consultation on business analytics that could further reduce your operational cost and increase profit margins. Once we have enough information on your system, we will transform your business into an Artificial Intelligence-powered greenhouse solar dryer. We will be sharing such information in our future blog post.
